John worked as assistant composer to award-winning Scottish film composer Patrick Doyle  (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Thor, Brave), preparing and arranging music for orchestral recordings on the sixth season of the Netflix hit-series Big Mouth.

John's specific role was Orchestration Preparation, which consisted of taking Patrick's midi arrangement from Logic Pro and using it to prepare the sheet music for symphony orchestra for the recording sessions.

Comic book soundtracks offer a new level of immersion, adding an additional auditory layer to the story. They create the possibility of having a digital version of the comic that adds something extra and unique.

John has composed full soundtracks albums of original tailored scores for numerous multimedia comic projects. These include Frank at Home on the Farm #1-4; a period mystery series by Jordan Thomas and Clark Bint (published by Scout Comics), and Lincoln Green, a folk-horror, adding an compelling twist to Celtic and Britannic folklore (soon to be released).

John has also composed short pieces for comic anthologies such as Tales from the Quarantine, where John collaborated with the artist Charlie Adlard (The Walking Dead) and created a short Operetta with singers Christopher Goldsack and Janet Shell, libretto written by Frazer Brown; and Xomic Bük, an independent anthology, which he created a short neo-classical piece for cello and piano for.

John composed the original soundtrack to the fantasy audiobook King Arthur and the Book of Corbenic by Christopher Castroppa. 

Working closely with the clients, finding the right tone and creating memorable music to accompany their advertisements.

Apart from working with music for media, John also prepares arrangements for orchestra and other ensemble groups. He holds a Masters in Composition from Queen's University Belfast and received a 1st Class Honours in his undergraduate at the National University of Ireland, Maynooth, specialising in Original Composition. While working on the Big Mouth series, his role was in Orchestration Preparation. 

John is a proficient multi-instrumentalist. His instruments include:

 -  Drums (and other percussive instruments)

John was lead-guitarist, singer and song-writer in the indie-rock group The Curtain Thieves; singer, song-writer, pianist and guitarist in the Neo-folk group Manta Ray James; he has sung in different university choirs; he has a performance diploma in classical guitar from Trinity Guildhall London; he undertook 2 modules from Music Production and Sound Engineering Degree at Point Blank Music School London  and passed with distinction. ​
